Swinging-bucket centrifuge rotors require inserts or adapters that accommodate cargo tubes in the proper shape for the metal buckets. To make less of a mess inside your centrifuge, one can use sealed tube carriers. These have transparent angled lids that screw onto the cylindrical adapters, with a black O-ring to keep them sealed well. The adapter bottom is shaped to support conical-bottom polypropylene tubes, which would otherwise collapse under even modest centrifugal force. This set of four carriers is balanced and meant to be used complete in a four-place swinging bucket rotor. Originally sold as accessories for Fisher Marathon 21000(R) centrifuge 4-Place Swinging Bucket rotor (Fisher catalogue 04-976-006). Accomodates capped conical polypropylene tubes, particularly Corning Falcon 2096 (15 mL capacity, catalogue number 352096; outer diameter, 17 mm; length, 120 mm). Inserts tolerate 4500 rpm (maximum RCF of 3980g, radius of 17.6 cm). If this is your setup, they should work perfectly, but it is likely that they could be used in other situations. Some of the photographs show an assembled carrier is almost the same size as a nominal capacity 500 mL Oak Ridge style centrifuge bottle (Nalgene catalogue number 3141-0500; outer diameter, 69.5 mm; height, 159.3 mm).
